Title of Course: An Introduction to Compassionate Nonviolent Communication

Description of Course: Compassionate Nonviolent Communication is a powerful process for expressing and receiving messages. The form and focus of the method fosters respect, attentiveness, and empathy, instead of defensiveness, resistance and counterattack. Ultimately, people are motivated to cooperate willingly to meet each other's needs. International peacemaker, Dr. Marshall Rosenberg developed this model to help people communicate from the heart. Whether it is nations, neighborhoods, couples, classrooms or families, or just you with yourself, these tools help to deepen already rich relationships and heal painful ones.

Positive Discipline for Parents, Teachers and Providers

Description of Course: This seven session class is for parents and providers who are looking for long-term parenting/teaching skills that will encourage children to think for themselves, become more responsible, and have a greater respect for themselves and others. The teachings of Positive Discipline are filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that will incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting and teaching. Positive Discipline helps a parent/teacher get to the core of their child's misbehavior, bring more joy into the home and school or care giving environment, and give parents, providers, and teachers a sense of accomplishment and peace.

Facilitator: Marti Monroe, Ph.D. marti@the-landing.org or 208-947-1613

Overview: Positive Discipline is a program that teaches important social and life skills in a manner that is respectful to both the adults and the young people in the situation. It supports raising young people to be responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their community. It is based on the theory that children have a sense of connection to their community (home, school) and when their input is regarded as valuable, they are less likely to engage in misbehavior. To be successful members of the community, children need to be taught the necessary social skills. Positive Discipline is based on the understanding that discipline must be taught and that discipline teaches.

These classes are designed to help you create kids that you dream of having and enjoy immensely!

These fast moving 14 hour classes fly by and are powerfully impactful. You can take this study over 7 weeks or in two days, with time in between. People are encouraged to repeat to stay effective as parents of an ever evolving family.

The text is the latest edition of Positive Discipline, by Jane Nelsen, Ed.D., and is sold at Rembrandts Coffee House in Eagle, online, and in local book stores.

7 Session Class, 2 hours each or 2 session classes 7 hours each. The book Positive Discipline is available for purchase at Rembrandts Coffee House in Eagle, on line and at many local book vendors.
